”Make a wish.”

“Um…”

“Choose carefully.”

She laughed and tilted her head, with that gleam in her eyes that had made him fall in love with her.

“You’re too serious. It’s only a game. I’m not getting my wish. No need to sound so mysterious.”

He smiled faintly and his eyes met hers.

“Come on. Make a wish. But for real.”

“Okay,” she laughed again and looked at the sky, narrowing her eyes as she was thinking.

He took that minute to look at her. He knew that such an amazing girl could never see anything in him, a normal boy with lots of flaws. She was perfect from head to toe, inside and outside. He had seen her soul and it was as pure as snow that has just fallen from the sky. He was somehow expecting her to stop being his friend sooner or later, when she got bored of him, his stupid jokes and his lack of beauty and sexiness. He was a bit fat, he loved heavy metal and had chronic headaches. What could a girl possibly see in that?

“I wish…” She took her eyes off of the sky and looked at him the way no other girl had looked at him in all his life. His stomach twisted. He didn’t know what to look at. Her eyes were so beautiful and somehow so frightening. “I wish I spend the rest of my life with you.”

And the stars could have exploded, the sky could have turned green and the grass blue, and he wouldn’t have cared anyway.

He leaned forward and so did she, and their lips touched.

And his soul was shouting for joy at the stars.
